Thank you for your many votes and your enthousiasm !
Thanks to you, the Villa & Gardens Ephrussi de Rothschild was elected the "French favorite monument" Alpes Côte d'Azur and in the National top 6 2024!
It’s official ! The Villa and Gardens Ephrussi de Rothschild represent the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region in the prestigious TV program « France’s most loved monument » (Le Monument préféré des Français), the results will be revealed on 18th of September 2024.
2024 is undeniably the Year of Béatrice ! As we celebrate the 160th anniversary of the birth of Baroness Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild, and the 90th anniversary of the bequest of her villa and collections to the Académie des beaux-arts, we are now just a click away from becoming « France’s most loved Villa ».
Every edition of this widely-watched show promotes heritage in all its dimensions, epochs, and styles. This eclecticism is dear to us, as it reflects the taste of Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild, who brought together the finest pieces from each artist, from Boucher to Tiepolo, from Coypel to Fragonard, with an art of assemblage unmatched in France. And with her impressive knowledge of botany, she had the boldness to create an unparalleled garden, modeled after the bow of a ship, on the most beautiful peninsula of the Côte d’Azur.
By voting for the Villa and Gardens Ephrussi de Rothschild, you supported the work and collection of an extraordinary, free, modern, refined, and generous woman. It is to follow in the footsteps of someone who made her Villa a true « catalog of monuments ». This nomination is a recognition of the aesthetic and architectural, as well as natural and botanical, qualities of the Villa and Gardens Ephrussi de Rothschild. It reinforces our desire for greater openness to the public : thanks to the will of the Académie des beaux-arts, we are restoring all the buildings of the Villa, notably to host artists in residence, and to open up all private areas to the public.
Thank you for continuing to come and discover this emblematic place of the Côte d'Azur in ever greater numbers.
